During this month’s channeling, The Band shifted the conversation from connection to power — not power over other people, but the kind of power that lives inside us.
They described it as the ability to know yourself deeply enough to say, even in the middle of difficulty, “I am going to be okay.”
That does not mean everything is okay. It does not mean we ignore injustice, deny anger, or pretend that painful things are not happening. It means we notice the moment when something outside of us begins to own our entire inner world.
We all do this. We hand our energy to the news. To politics. To a difficult family member. To a decision someone else made. To fear about the future. We may spend hours replaying what was said, imagining what might happen, and feeling more and more helpless.
The Band’s invitation was simple: take your power back.
You can dislike what someone is doing without allowing that person to determine how you feel every moment of the day. You can care deeply about what is happening in the world and still choose how much of your nervous system you hand over to it.
Reclaiming your power does not mean doing nothing. In fact, it can make action more possible. When you are grounded, you can ask: What can I actually do? Is there a conversation I need to have? A letter to write? A vote to cast? A boundary to set? A cause to support? Or is the most useful thing right now to step away from the noise and restore yourself?
There is a great difference between acting from your center and reacting from helplessness.
The Band also brought this idea into aging. Bodies change. Energy changes. There may be things we cannot do the way we once did. But age does not have to take ownership of our spirit. We can honor the body while refusing to let our lives simply dwindle.
So here is the question to sit with: Where are you giving your power away?
Notice what immediately comes to mind. Then ask one more question: What part of this still belongs to me?
Your response belongs to you. Your attention belongs to you. Your next action belongs to you. And sometimes reclaiming power begins with remembering exactly that.
